Style Me: Pastels

I came across this look I created a while ago on Looklet.com, an amazing virtual styling studio that lets you create looks using clothing and accessories from both affordable and luxurious designer brands. Unfortunately, this website is no longer available which is a real shame but luckily I saved a few shots of the look. Read on for tips on how to recreate it!

Pastels are one of my favourite trends, one which I have a truly undying love for and one which will never grow old. As Spring/Summer approaches us with great welcome, those of us who have desired longing for its presence will have already started reorganising our wardrobes and making the transition from winter knits to spring silks & chiffons. Pastels will be trending this Spring/Summer season and recreating the look above will no doubt cast adoring eyes on the elegance and beauty of the ensemble as you make your way to a designated bar for cocktails!

Parisian Perfection: Olivia Palermo

I will make no secret of the fact that I LOVE Olivia Palermo. Idolise her even. She has been my style icon for many years now, right back to the time when she first appeared on The City. Ever since she stepped onto the fashion scene, I have found it impossible to find someone who is as flawless, tasteful, chic and sophisticated as she is...and oh-so-effortless!

There's no doubt about how influential she's been on my own wardrobe, my style choices and day-to-day outfits so when it came down to choosing my first 'Style Inspiration', there was no question about who I would write about. As it is currently Paris Fashion Week, my first post about Olivia is of her attending the Dior show at Rodin's museum earlier today. I absolutely adore the outfit she pulled...simply working copper tones with black in a beautiful splash-print dress accessorised with a metallic clutch and gorgeous detailed-design heels. Of course, Olivia wouldn't be Olivia without her statement jewellery pieces including her favoured gold Rolex, vintage bracelet and cocktail ring. She wore her hair in a braided plait style that I have never seen her wear before but it definitely suits her! The whole ensemble is perfect as metallics have seen to be trending in the Autumn/Winter shows and will be a definite statement for next season.

London Fashion Week: Burberry Prorsum A/W 2012

There was no show quite like the one Burberry Prorsum displayed during London Fashion Week yesterday afternoon. Proving to be the perfect brand to globally promote and commercialise eclectic British fashion and creativity, Christopher Bailey, Chief Creative Officer of Burberry, set a new high standard for what is arguably the most eccentric and flamboyant fashion week of the four major capitals. The 1940s inspired collection saw the models parade down the runway in tweed flat caps, cord skirts with flipped hems, oversized knits, full-sleeved blousy shirts, cropped bomber jackets, pencil skirts featuring a pretty spiral ruffle up the front and of course, THAT trench coat. Classic but with a twist.

With statement textures such as velvet, herringbone tweed, suede, quilt and fur-lined tartan alongside a palette of muted shades of mustard, deep burgundy and olive, the Prorsum collection announced an official trend statement: British countryside fashion is back. Bow detailing, ruched belts, studded leather gloves, oversized hexagonal handbags and finally lace-up stiletto boots completed the prim and polished looks. The collection itself would have undoubtedly made the headlines in the fashion world but no, Burberry didn't stop there.

Pulling out all the stops to ensure a dramatic finale for their brand worshippers seated in the Kensington Gardens tent, they let open the heavens with a thunderous rumble initiating Burberry-made rain to run down the outside of the tent. Murmurs echoed throughout as spectators in awe of the genius behind the production team at Burberry were fascinated. After a moment of silence, in military fashion led by the striking Cara Delevigne, the models marched out onto the runway one last time with umbrellas held above their heads shielding them from the confetti that rained down. The house of Burberry got what they were most probably after....to steal the headlines from all the other shows. They got it but deservedly so because the drama and unexpectedness, the atmospheric melancholy of the rain, the whole creativity and ingenious of it all produced something much more than just fashion.

Louis Vuitton Cruise Collection 2012

A few months ago, Louis Vuitton released their Cruise Collection 2012, modelled by the stunning Arizona Muse. Until now, I never really had the chance to fully appreciate the beautifully crafted and stylishly designed collection by Marc Jacobs. The Cruise line bridges the Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter shows, capturing Parisian essence with inspiration from American screenwriter and film director, Sofia Coppola.

The collection perfectly paints the picture of an effortlessly chic girl-about-town in the French Capital, sipping on a coffee at a cafe on the famed picturesque streets of Paris or lounging at a glamourous place to-be-seen, cocktail in one hand and a LV monogrammed clutch bag in the other. The line makes a statement with the classic nautical colours of white, navy blue, red and black accessorised with gold. The designs were of none other than the structured jackets, pleated skirts and dresses, cashmere cardigans, snake skin shorts, blue leopard print and sophicated lace tops all resonating of course, the trademark refined look of LV. No doubt, Marc Jacobs successfully mixed his brilliant craftsmanship with desirable details...definitely one of my favourite collections by Louis Vuitton!
